10 3/4"/ 27 cm Wonderful antique empire papier mache or paper mache lady doll from my own collection. This doll has a solemn face with blue painted eyes and beautifully modelled hair. Her hair is swept up into a knot .an unusual and early hairstyle. I think this lady is from the 1840s. She has the typical milliner's body, with green painted flat shoes, leather torso and paper rings where her wooden appendages attach. She wears her original creme cotton dress and has lovely underwear. Very nice cabinet size. Minimal wear to the papermache head some crazing to the shoulderhead.under the dress.
