Category: Antique Papier-mâché/Paper-Mache Dolls and Wooden dolls (1750-1860)
15" Wonderful antique papier mache milliners model with long ringlets at the side and the hair put together in a bun at the back,.This doll has a face with blue painted eyes and beautifully modelled hair. Her hair is braided and wound over her ears at the side, the back swept up into a knot with comb fastened below it..an unusual and early hairstyle. I think this lady is from the 1830s. She has the typical milliner's body, with painted flat shoes, leather torso and paper rings where her wooden limps are attached. She wears what may be her original cotton red dress.Made by Voigt, Germany. Literatur: Christiane Gräfnitz, Deutsche Papiermaché-Puppen 1760-1860. Verlag Puppen und Spielzeug 1994.
